Exhibition by Dániel Rohrböck and Máté Bencs
The final exhibition of the JÓKAI 7 gallery season presents the works of two young artists, who, through diverse media, commemorate the mechanism behind our world, the endless cycle of destruction and construction.
Dániel Rohrböck's paintings evoke the ruined advertising surfaces of the streets, where the battle of layers of posters, graffiti and stickers takes place. The gestures emerging on the tortured surfaces merge into a chaotic compost, emphasizing the vitality of the modern experience of ruin characteristic of the urban wilderness.
Máté Bencs builds new constructions by cutting up his previous works on paper and supplementing their fragments with scratched and painted gestures.
The Frankensteinian formations that emerge during recycling have the effect of a child combining the monotonous building blocks of Lego with elements of other toys. The motifs enclosed between the layers of Plexiglas sheets are preserved, like objects hidden behind museum showcases, and are placed in an unreachable distance. In an attempt to bridge the distance, gestures placed on the topmost layer of Plexiglas appear, desperately trying to connect with the figures intruding on the other side of the transparent plastic. The phenomenon is reminiscent of the scribbling of advertisements enclosed in glass cages, where the poster is only reached by the shadow of the scribble cast on the surface protecting it.
The works of the two artists presented at the exhibition are built from different bricks, but the binding material is the same for both of them.
The event is organized in collaboration with the Viltin Gallery.
