Generative Transcendentalism: Exhibition by Gergő Sós
We are starting our unmissable JÓKAI 7 gallery season!
We open our summer exhibition series with Gergő Sós' monotone/monochrome project titled GENERATIVE TRANSCENDENTALISM.
The artist's unconventional creative work was based on a desire and goal: to create a closed system in which he could answer small-scale questions. By narrowing his artistic space, he wanted to create a strong focus. Gergő Sós wanted this endeavor to result in a highly productive and long-term process.
As a starting point, he would like to present essential experiences, references and goals for him: what were the movements and processes in modern art that began to form the inner environment in which the monotonous/monochrome workflow could be created, and which could be the basis for long-term research and investigation. The artist's two fundamental defining experiences are minimalism and improvised music. Both fundamentally changed his experience of the relationship between image and sound. He began to be interested in the relationship between form and content. Minimalism, as an aesthetic aspiration, became interesting in painting, architecture and the culture of form, in a way that a given idea or functional goal could be achieved with the fewest possible visual gestures. The significance of colors, materials and data became paramount for Gergő, context and function were placed above narrative.
We warmly welcome all interested parties to the exhibition opening!
